Significant disagreement is valuable information. It indicates that your question touches on uncertain, ambiguous, or genuinely debatable issues where reasonable analytical approaches diverge. The CANDID report highlights areas of consensus and areas of disagreement. Where models concur despite their different training and architectures, you can have higher confidence. Where they diverge, the report identifies what specifically drives the disagreement—different assumptions, different risk assessments, different interpretations of market dynamics—so you understand what requires additional research or human judgment on your part.

When you ask a single model the same question multiple times—even with different prompts or requested perspectives—you're accessing the same underlying knowledge, filtered through the same reasoning architecture. The model might phrase things differently, but its fundamental knowledge gaps, biases, and tendencies remain constant across all responses. Multiple models bring different training data, different architectures, and different reasoning approaches. Where one model is uncertain, another may have relevant knowledge. Where one model makes particular assumptions, another may approach the problem differently. This diversity reveals the contours of what is known versus uncertain in ways that repeated consultations with a single model cannot.

Candid Sail is designed to "fail safe": if an AI goes rogue and the moderator cannot negotiate a response, the process halts, the data purged to the last check point, and a the run is restarted. A second run is almost always successful. Our Daily Sail benchmarks (see: Sample Reports) have a 3% failure rate. We consider these failures a success, because we can see that the system is working. Furthermore, we can identify the factors that cause a failure. We have identified multiple factors that cause AI guests to go rogue, but cannot prevent it: that is the provider's responsibility. What we can do is prevent questionable reports from leaving our system. Customers are not charged for failed reports. The Candid Sail philosophy is that it better to admit failure than give you bad advise.
